FAQ
“My stop tailpiece studs are wider at the neck than 0.265 inches.”
You can purchase replacement studs from the TOWNER Store.
“Can I install your down tension bar with a Bigsby B3 on a Les Paul?”
Yes, the system to use is the Towner V.BLOCK. The V.BLOCK is 1/2″ thick that goes between the Bigsby® B3 hinge-plate and the body of the guitar. And yes… Your guitar will still fit in the case with the 1/2″ extension.
“Will your kit fit on a . . . . . guitar?”
The Towner down tension bar will fit on any guitar with a stop tailpiece setup mounting directly to the existing studs.
“Would I need to replace the tune-o-matic bridge with roller saddles?”
You do not need to replace the tune-o-matic bridge with roller saddles. That is a personal preference. However, I found I loose sustain with the roller bridge and prefer the ABR-1 bridge myself.
“In order to install the Bigbsy B7 vibrato bar to the body you have to drill holes. How do you avoid not drilling the holes with your set up?”
Use a Bigsby B3, Bigsby B6 (B6 is suggested f0r ES models) vibrato tailpiece and you won’t have to drill holes in the body. If you have a Bigsby B7 installed already you can still add the Towner Down Tension Bar and Hinge-Plate Adaptor to raise the strap lock / strap-lok button out of the slot in the Bigsby Hinge-Plate for easier access. I recommend removing the B7 down tension bar by removing the screw from the bottom of the BIGSBY B7 and sliding out the down tension bar.
“Will this kit will work with left handed guitars?”
Yes, the Towner down tension bar will install on LEFT handed guitars in place of the stop tailpiece that is in the CENTER of the guitar
“Will the V.BLOCK system get in the way of fitting the guitar in the guitar case?”
The V.BLOCK system will not get in the way of fitting in the guitar case.
