BIGSBY® B3 Kit with TOWNER Down Tension Bar and Hinge Plate Adaptor
The TOWNER Down Tension Bar manages your sustain controlling your break angle.
The TOWNER Down Tension Bar allows you to control how much string tension you want.
- Recommended to set the Down Tension Bar just below the saddles of the bridge.
The TOWNER Hinge Plate Adaptor is designed to provide a flat surface for your strap lock or strap button on the BIGSBY® EX-SHORT hinge plate.
The TOWNER Hinge Plate Adaptor slot provides room for exact placement of the BIGSBY®.
The TOWNER Hinge Plate Adaptor and 2" strap button screw acts as a retainer holding the BIGSBY® to the guitar body, relieving you from having to drill four extra screws into your guitar.

Bought my son a B6 for Christmas. It turned out to be incompatible with his guitar. Towner set us up with the right part and returned the wrong one with no issue. Thanks for being a great company.
I ordered this instead of a B5, because I've had poor experiences with the B5 on an SG in the past. Seems like I could never get the tuning stability where I wanted it, even with a Vibramate mounting kit and a Callahan break angle upgrade, the break angle was always just either too steep or too weak.
I installed this on my Gibson SG '61 reissue in Tobacco Burst Finish, and I'm absolutely thrilled! It did take a while to setup properly to optimize against string buzz, tone, and tuning stability, but I found Towner's directions and some forum advice to be perfect.
My personal advice - After you install the bigsby and get some strings on with a bit of tension, raise the bar pretty high, enough so the strings just glide in the saddles. Tune up and play a bit. You might notice string buzz, this is expected. What you're looking for here are tuning stability problems there. If you find any, it's probably at the nut. If you don't, continue lowering the bar a quarter turn (both posts) until you have the desired tone and little to no string observable buzz coming through your amplifier when you play.
Overall, I'm absolutely blown away by the simple ingenuity of this product and would absolutely recommend it if you're looking to put a Bigsby on your SG!
Also, Towner shipped promptly and the package was on it's way the very next day. Towner even installed the rivets on my Bigsby B3 so I wouldn't have to (thanks!). 10/10 customer service.
Very good products and customer service!!
Well, I break power tools and even I was able to install this. It’s very stable and works very well. Christian was super helpful too. I highly recommend Towner gear.
